Job Description
The Communications Specialist position is a member of the Academic Engagement team, focused on elevating the stories of how Digital Learning works with academic units across the campus. This position leads efforts for internal communications, sharing ways in which Digital Learning supports faculty in developing engaging experiences for online students.


Responsibilities
Content Creation
  • Serves as lead for all projects related to internal (UT) communications coming from Academic Engagement team, including planning, designing, developing, and creating content
  • Works across the Academic Engagement @Digital Learning team to identify potential story ideas, performs outreach to obtain quotes, secure video/audio interview opportunities to highlight Digital Learning collaborations with faculty/academic units
  • Creates and disseminates content through internal UT channels (Intranet, UT newsletters)
  • Strategizes on opportunities for reaching UT's academic community to share DL successes
  • Develops the communications strategy to ensure alignment with departmental goals and faculty engagement
  • Manage Academic Engagement communications to subscribed faculty community, including department newsletter

Performance Analytics
  • Analyze available data related to communications; implement opportunities to perform metrics including read rates/views, click-throughs
  • Conducts analysis of metrics to adjust strategies as needed for continuous improvement
  • Evaluates audience needs to improve the effectiveness of communications

Event Management & Support
  • Provide operations support for Academic Engagement team events, including tabling events for faculty, campus presentations, and awards ceremonies
  • Strategize marketing efforts for dissemination of event information across UT community
  • Support efforts to strengthen attendance at Digital Learning professional development events

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, marketing, English or related field
  • Experience in marketing or communications - could include experience as a student worker


Work Location
  • Knoxville, TN
  • This position does have the potential for a hybrid working capacity.

Compensation and Benefits
  • UT market range: MR 09
  • Anticipated hiring range: $48,000-$52,000, dependent on experience
