Position Description: The successful candidate will be able to teach content area courses (e.g., Collaboration and Transition, Assessment, Positive Behavioral Support, Curriculum and Instruction, Research methods, etc.), and conduct clinical practice supervision for special education teacher candidates. Other related duties include committee work, a program of scholarship, and service to the profession and the community. The candidate should be willing to teach at times and locations necessary to meet student needs and adopt innovative teaching methods and delivery as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate in Special Education or related field, from an accredited institution.

ABD will be accepted if all requirements are met by date of hire (August 2022)

Minimum of three (3) years of public school and/or clinical experience serving students in cross-cultural special education settings.

Demonstrated ability to teach master's level Special Education courses

Evidence of, or promise for, supervision of master's students

Evidence of, or promise for, scholarship (e.g., conference presentations, scholarly publications, grant writing).

Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduates and/or post-baccalaureate students from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds, including first-generation students.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with candidates, staff, faculty, and partners

Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills (problem solving, conflict resolution, collaboration)

Experience supervising research of MA level candidates

Experience with instructional technology

Established record of success in serving linguistically and ethnically diverse populations

Demonstrated commitment to diversity.

Experience with alternative special education delivery systems that integrate special and general education services.

Evidence of successful college level teaching experience in face-to-face, synchronous/asynchronous, and hybrid learning environments.

Experience of successful clinical practice supervision of special education teacher candidates.

Workload: The normal workload includes teaching assignments, service, advising, and campus committee assignments. It may also involve program coordination.
