Bunker Hill Community College's Director of Learning Communities provides leadership and administrative support for the design, implementation and assessment of Learning Communities that foster student equity and success. Reporting to the Dean of Humanities and Learning Communities, the Director collaborates with faculty, academic departments, advisors, enrollment and student services staff, and institutional research to sustain, strengthen and scale the institution's nationally recognized Learning Communities Program.
Serving 4,500 plus students each academic year, BHCC's Learning Communities are the cornerstone of the College's comprehensive student success and equity agenda. Students enrolled in Learning Communities benefit from active and interdisciplinary learning experiences and integrated support services that make it more likely they will stay in college, do well in their courses, and achieve their academic goals.
- Direct the design and delivery of Learning Communities.
- Provide leadership in the design and assessment of core student learning outcomes in Learning Communities.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate culturally sustaining and anti-racist practices into Learning Communities.
- Develop and manage comprehensive professional development programs for faculty and staff participating in Learning Communities.
- Lead the College's Think Tank meetings to recommend course offerings, develop programming, and implement ongoing assessment of Learning Communities.
- Schedule and manage Learning Community course offerings.
- Direct the promotion of Learning Communities for incoming students.
- Supervise the Learning Communities Special Programs Coordinator and provide leadership for the ACE Mentor Program.
- Supervise the Learning Communities Administrative Assistant.
- Develop and manage Learning Communities annual budget.
- Collaborate with the Center for Equity and Cultural Wealth and other programs and initiatives to create curricular and co-curricular programs grounded in a framework of equity and cultural wealth.
- Manage the development of internal and external promotional and communication materials in collaboration with the Integrated Marketing and Communication Department.
- Collect, analyze, and disseminate qualitative and quantitative Learning Community data in collaboration with the Institutional Research.
- Cultivate new opportunities to expand Learning Communities high impact practices across disciplines.
Job Requirements:
- Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
- A minimum of five years of experience working in higher education.
- A minimum of three years of experience supervising staff and/or managing a team.
- Experience implementing learning communities or high impact practices.
- Experience implementing professional development.
- Experience supporting student success and equity initiatives.
- Experience working effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student population.
- Experience working effectively across the campus.
- Experience in student learning outcomes development and assessment.
- Experience using assessment and data analysis for data-driven decision-making.
- Successful project management experience.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft 365 and Google Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-secondary teaching experience.
- Experience working directly with faculty.
- Experience working at a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI).
- Experience working at a community college.
- Bilingual and multilingual candidates are highly encouraged.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000. Non-Unit Professional position. Full State Benefits. Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education and Experience.
